The Inner Bright – “I Will Not Be Sad In This World”
The Inner Bright is a 3-piece metal band that is part hardcore, part progressive and part experimental. Drawing inspiration from bands such as Meshuggah, The Dillinger Escape Plan, Periphery, and Animals As Leaders, as well as incorporating elements of jazz and jazz/fusion, the band has created a unique, intensely dark and musically intricate sound.
Based in Southern California, drummer Sean Wedmore, guitarist Shingo Umeda, and singer/guitarist Sam Ortolano came together in 2007 and immediately began churning out odd meter, poly-rhythmic grooves and technically advanced lines topped with relentless vocal screams. Their musical philosophy is to push the limits, not settle for the norm and don’t be afraid of making something that is both heavy and truly artistic. While its song arrangements are highly complex, The Inner Bright performs each composition with an uncompromising vision, playing off one another as they navigate from part to part, linking together various ideas to make a powerful, unified statement.
